DIARY ENTRIES FROM THE DEVELOPMENT
OF ROBINSONS' CORNER

STAGE 1 OF 8
August 2021
In preparation for starting groundworks on the office spaces next month, a large purpose-built agricultural building has been removed to make way for the rear courtyard. The creation of two open community spaces is a key part of the design at Robinsons' Corner, and we can't wait for them to take shape over the next few months.
STAGE 2 OF 8
September 2021
Work on site started in early September, only a few days after a significant amount of top soil was removed to make way for a car park to the west of the site. This car park will be shielded from view by existing trees. Freddie did a great job when he was in control of the teleporter...

STAGE 3 OF 8
October 2021
Progress this month has been slower than expected after several oak timbers were stolen from site less than 24 hours before they were due to be installed! Thankfully, we've managed to buy some new ones and we've only lost a week's worth of effort overall. With the winter drawing in, a key focus over the next few weeks will be re-tiling the exposed roofs on the future offices.
STAGE 4 OF 8
November 2021
November has been busy, both on and off site. On site, re-roofing continues on several buildings. Off site, we’ve produced and agreed a first version of the fire safety plan for the offices and tearoom, and have instructed Via (a subsidiary of Notts County Council) to produce detailed designs for the pavement changes required. We are using Via so we can discuss the design / necessity of the proposed changes with Notts County Council as we go, rather than appointing a third party who will simply act as a go-between.

STAGE 5 OF 8
January 2022
At long last, the re-roofing is just about finished and we're starting to talk about some of the more exiting things - doors, windows, floors and, of course, fire safety. We're delighted to confirm that Daisy Sandeman will be running tearoom. Daisy has been living in Wheatley for the past couple of years while training at The School of Artisan Food at Welbeck and we're sure she's going to do a great job.

STAGE 6 OF 8
February 2022
Progress continues on site with the tearoom and units 2, 3 and the information centre / site office all starting to take shape. The partitions for the public toilets have been erected; windows are starting to be installed; and the floors will soon be finished. We're really encouraged by the number of enquiries received about the site and hope that this will continue as we get closer to completion. We are still hoping to open in late spring / early summer.

STAGE 7 OF 8
May 2022
The past couple of months have been very busy with the new units and tearoom really starting to take shape. By the end of the month, we hope that the decorating will be finished and the floors will be down. The landscaping of the front courtyard is also underway with x4 electric vehicle charging points due to be installed in mid-June. The last big change will be the highways changes which are likely to commence w/c 20th or 27th June.

STAGE 8 OF 8 - COMPLETION!
August 2022
After almost 12 months, the building work has just about been completed and the units have been signed-off. We want to thank Wheatley residents for their patience with the development works, especially over recent weeks when the highways changes caused disruption on Sturton Road. We hope that the site will quickly be seen as a community asset and wish every success to the businesses operating from the site.
